Report For Oulton Park 20th March 2009 (test day)
Well the 20th March was the first time out on the bike for 2009 at out favourite circuit "oulton park".
Got there nice and early as usual and as soon as it was light the we could see it was going to be a good day, alittle misty at first, but once we got to around 11 o'clock the sun was shining till we went home.
Usual breifing and signing on nice and early so we could kick back and relax before the first outing.
As it was a track day we had to do 3 siting laps to start with, out for the siting laps and i was very nervous and even though i was riding at a much slower pace i didnt have a feel for the bike at all, but with that in mind i hadnt riden a bike since the last time out in october.
Out for the first proper session and i literally rolled straight out the pits and onto the track so no need to warm the tyres up, as soon as i hit the track i was riding at pace and felt really comfortable with the bike even before the first corner.
The day went fantastic and i felt really on the pace through out the day, in the morning the only boys that passed me were the SMT Honda superbike team (as if i was going to keep up with them), by the afternoon i was feeling tired after not riding over the winter months i wasnt feeling very bike fit, although i was still enjoying the day very much.
In the afternoon sessions i was having that recurring problem of the front brakes, after a few laps i was loosing feel and made some mistakes in some major braking area's, so something we plan to work on and sort out before the next outing.
Apart from the brake problem we all had an amazing day and it was great to share the garage and enjoy the day with so many friends.
And of course a thank you to emma for getting up so early with me and being my one man (or woman) pit crew for the day, couldnt of done it with out her.
