Report For Anglesey Coastal Circuit Round 4 Wirral 100 (1st & 2nd August)

Well finally we managed to get out for a race meet back at anglesey circuit which we havent visited since sept 2007, With mixed feelings after not riding the bike since march and not racing since october 2008 this meeting was just going to be a bit of fun.

Got to anglesey on the friday before saturday's racing and set up at the track with a few friends (chris and ray), come saturday i was a bit more relaxed due to setting up on the friday. Friday nights weather was very unencouraging, but low and behold saturday morning by 8.am the sun was well out and the track was starting to dry up and with it being alittle windy still that helped alot.

Out for saturdays practice and although feeling comfortable on the bike i just wasnt with it, with my lines being all over the place, but that was usual in practice for me.

1st race on saturday and i was 13th on the grid, had a fantastic start getting up to around 7th-8th place holding a good pace, i was fighting with a few others but wasnt to worried as i was still getting back into things but on the last lap coming out of the banking i lost both wheels but managed to pick the bike back up on my knee and regain grip, but by the time i gathered my thoughts after what had just happened 2 guys had already gone past and nearing the end of the lap the red flags came out making it a very short race finally finishing 10th place, dispite losing 2 places on the last lap.

Once back into the pits after my very near fall onto the tarmac i looked around the bike to see that i had slid the bike on the frame sliders and realised i was lucky to get the bike back upright.

After a short day at the track it was time to go back the camp site and have a few beers with emma and friends.

Back at the track on sunday morning and not quite as early as saturday as didnt need to do the usual scrutineering and signing on, although i still wanted to get out on the emergency practice as i felt i need to get back into it and after changing a few things i wanted to try the bike out.

1st race on sunday i checked the grid postions and i was 19th overall as there were 2 heats on the saturday with there being so many riders, so i was pretty happy with the postion.

Once again i had a great start and gained places before the first corner and was happy with my pace but was struggling with fatigue with not riding for so long i just wasnt bike fit and 10 laps for me at the time seemed like forever, eventually finished the race in 17th and done my personal best lap time of 1.17.107 in the last lap.

2nd race on sunday and i was in the same 19th position as race 1 but didnt get a very good start, but once around most of the circuit the red flag was out due to a faller at church, so the race was restarted and i managed to get a much better start, after a few laps was getting into it and having some good dices with other riders but was starting to feel the lack of grip of the rear tyre due to the many sessions it had done so was well passed it best but kept it together and just brought it home to finally finish 13th.

Even though feeling i could of run a faster pace i was still very happy with my results and managed to better my personal best lap time by over 2 and half seconds.

Overall i had a fantastic weekend which is what i needed, i enjoyed the racing and mostly i enjoyed spending the weekend with emma and lots of friends showing they're support.

So a thank you to all those that made the effort to come see me race and help me out and especially emma who pretty much funded the whole weekend.

And an appology to emma for getting her up so early on her 20th birthday, hope you a good birthday babe!
